Some of the best movies ever made are KungFu / Martial Arts films. There is usually plenty of action and a decent story line. Who doesn't want to walk into a room and leave the only man standing.
#7 Ong-Bak: Think Jackie Chan from Thailand. Tony Jaa pulls of some crazy moves in this movie. The story line doesn't really fit in with American culture but the action does.
And this is why I like Muay Thai
#6 Dragon the Bruce Lee Story: A great movie going through the life of Bruce Lee. I feel this movie was really well done. For kids of this generation, it helps to show how important Bruce Lee was to bringing martial arts to the United States.
# 5 Legend of the Drunken Master: My favorite movie of all Jackie Chan's. Of course, I haven't seen all 101 of them but I've seen quite a few. This movie is just good ole fun. This role just seems to fit Jackie's style. Come on, who doesn't think the more you drink the better you fight? Well, in reality, people don't fight better when their drunk but the movie is still awesome.
#4 Fearless: This is probably Jet Li's best movie to date. Be sure to watch the director's cut. I was showing this to my son the other day and I was like, "Hey, what happened to the other fights." I kept trying to find out what happened. It leaves the story incomplete. The story is about a real life instructor that helped to unify Wushu in China.
#3 The Karate Kid: Hey, this is a good movie. Why do you think they did a remake. How many kids started taking martial arts because of it. Every kid who was ever bullied probably started taking classes. This is a classic story of a kid who gets picked on and then learns how to overcome the bullies.
Alternate Ending
#2 Enter the Dragon: You have to watch Bruce Lee to truly appreciate Bruce Lee. This move is epic. There is a reason you see this movie more than all his others. Story line? This bad guy holds a fighting competition on his private island. He's basically there to take the bad guy down.
#1 best martial arts movie of all time would have to be Ip Man 1 and 2. Both are phenomenal movies. They tell the story of Bruce Lee's teacher during the Sino-Japanese War. In the movie, he is a prominent Kung Fu teacher with the respect of his community. He ends up having to work in the local mines. When his friend nearly dies from the Japanese, he goes to extract his vengeance. In the end, he fights for China and barely escapes with his life.
Translation: I'm so pissed off at you.
I'll have to beat up 10 of your guys just to feel better
