Had a fantastic time at the ICMAC tournament this last weekend. Brandon was able to compete in multiple events and placed in a few. His brother also competed.
Brandon displayed an amazing advanced level traditional hand form, but due to the amazing talent displayed in the 14-17 advanced boys division Brandon was a few tenths of a point from taking the bronze. This did not stop Brandon who was the youngest in his division taking the bronze in traditional long weapon as well as in traditional short weapon. Brandon also took home one silver medal in advanced Wushu Hand forms, and one gold medal in Wushu Long weapons.
Here are a few videos available on YouTube to watch.
On this last video we have Brandon sparring for 1st or 2nd place in the teenage advanced division. Although Brandon did not win, we felt he was awesome. I was so excited about his performance I didn't really care that he didn't win; probably felt like Hendrix after the Pierre fight.
We had to splice two different recordings together. Although, the first camera was able to get a better vantage point and take a better perspective, the camera kept zooming in and out. The second camera did not record the first exchange in the first round. So, we did the best we could. I wish the first camera took the best pictures. The match from that camera looks awesome for us.
We also were able to watch our favorite school that is not Honorable Warrior Martial Arts. They are Lee's White Leopard Kung Fu out of Dallas. They were so impressive last year. I didn't get to see to much of their stuff this year because we were competing in more categories. I did approach Pedro from White Leopard out of the blue and asked if i could film him. He was nice enough to agree. After speaking to Pedro this year and speaking with Grand Master Lee last year, I was surprised how receptive they were and willing to speak with people from other schools. They were confident in how awesome they are but not conceded to others. You really receive a good feeling of balanced people when talking to them.
So any how, I did catch Pedro doing one of his forms at the last second. So, my positioning isn't perfect but here it is. If I remember correctly, I saw him doing flips and such last year. They were probably done in another category.
